Competent Crew was founded with a clear mission: to deliver world-class training for professionals entering or advancing within the superyacht industry. We are based in Ibiza, offering a full range of IYT-certified courses tailored to the real-world demands of yachting careers. From aspiring deckhands and tender drivers to future captains, our academy prepares students with hands-on experience and expert-led instruction.

Dominic O'Brien

Meet Dominic, our expert instructor at Helmsmen Club.
With qualifications including Powerboat Level 2 Instructor, Cruising Instructor, Yachtmaster Instructor, Jet Ski Instructor, First Aid Instructor, and SRC Radio Instructor, Dominic is ready to deliver top-notch training in boating safety and skills. Originally from Brighton, UK, Dominic's passion for boating has driven his career as a charter captain and instructor for over seven years. Whether he's on the water or DJing around the island, his love for boating and Ibiza shines through in everything he does.
Martin Buzzano
Instructor
Meet Martin, a skilled sailor and enthusiastic instructor.
Martin has honed his expertise through years of competitive sailing and adventurous cruising across the waters of Argentina, Brazil, the Caribbean, the US, and Central America.
With professional qualifications including a Spanish professional skipper license (PPER), RYA Yachtmaster offshore certification in both power and sail, and RYA cruising instructor credentials, Martin is equipped with the knowledge and experience to deliver top-notch instruction.
Anna Weber

Passion, hard work, and positive attitude is the base of what Anna lives by and chances are that she will be your first point of contact when you call or e-mail us. She is an expert in getting back to you ASAP, able to give you full up to date information on availability and to answer any questions you may have.
